Drávaszabolcs-Kémes Dyke Project

National Flood-Protection Developments KEOP 2.1.1. Scheme
The project is funded jointly by the European Union and the Cohesion Fund.

Introduction of the project:
Currently, the flood-preventing dykes on the of the river section under Drávasztára are only 60 centimeter higher than the reference flood level, instead of the 120 centimeters. Waterworks and water utilization in the area are poor. Beyond the danger of flood, the risk of drainage water in rainy periods, and the odds of draught in dry periods exist. There is no surface water for utilization on the areas besides Drava.

The aim of the project:
The goal of the development project is that the state owned dyke managed by DDKÖVIZIG on the left side of Drava (mentioned in 10/1997.(VII.17.) KHVM decree appendix 1), and also 05.02 sections at Drávaszabolcs which is approximately 20 kilometers long, will be built to a proper height. The sections involved: Drava left side between 5+100 - 18+159 tkm, Fekete-víz between bp. 0+000 - 4+618 tkm, and Pécsi-víz left bank between 0+000 - 2+153 tkm. Full length: 19.83 kilometers.

The development of the two-phase tender project will take place between March 2008 and December 2009, while implementation will be realized in the next 4 years. The deadline for the realization is the end of year 2013. The 91 million Forint subsidy won in the second round of the application will help prepare the project.

The investment can be realized with the help of “Új Magyarország” Development Scheme and the Environment- and Energy Operative Program.
